LIQUID FLOW

The speed of flow v of a liquid through an orifice in the wall of the vessel containing this liquid is given by

P0 - Pressure applied on the surface of the liquid
P - Pressure at the exit of the liquid by the orifice

The flow is given by

S - area of the orifice
m - coefficient of outflow

The time of flow is:

Q - - volume of liquid flowed in the time t


GRAVITY FLOW

S0 - surface area of the liquid flowed

 


COEFFICIENT OF OUTFLOW

The coefficient of outflow, depends on the geometry of the exit orifice, according to the following table:
