Introduction

HDRP pumps (complying with API 610 standard – last edition) are centrifugal pumps with special rotor and volute for continuous operation with small capacities at elevated heads. Under such conditions, conventional centrifugal pumps could not operate without capacity control instruments.

Construction Characteristics

The HDRP pumps are horizontal centrifugal pumps, radial split, single stage and overhung impellers. The standard construction includes rear cover cooling or optionally, with carter cooling. With radial, semi-open rotor, designed to minimize the axial charge regardless of the suction pressure. The pump does not have wear rings and its large axial clearance allows it to work at its operating temperature range without the risk of seizure. The HDRP line covers nine sizes of pumps, serviced by two bearing supports only, allowing maximum interchangeability. For an easy maintenance, the pumps are assembled with the ”back-pull out” system. The shaft is wet and its wide sealing box accommodates all kinds of mechanical seals. The bearings are rolling types at the side of the pump, and there may be a third bearing in high suction pressures cases.
