Besides the liquid ring vacuum pumps, OMEL manufactures Vacuum Systems for specific applications. Those systems are specially designed for the severe conditions demanded by several industrial processes.

The start-up of the vacuum systems may be done by Omel specialized technicians, as requested by the clients.

Vacuum systems: definitions and setup possibilities

Vacuum system is a generic name for an arrangement of equipment used for vacuum generation.

The comparative analysis for choosing between different vacuum systems available for a given application must take into account all technical and economic factors.

The two main factors that affect the final selection of a vacuum system are (i) the suction pressure that should be maintained or achieved in the process and (ii) the flow to be suctioned.

But several other factors must be checked, depending on where the vacuum system will be installed, among them:

  • The tolerance of the vacuum system in suctioning solid or liquid materials;
  • The vacuum system response to a sudden increase in the air intake from leakages;
  • Performance interference due to any increase in discharge pressure;
  • System operation in corrosive or explosive environments.

The three most common arrangements of vacuum systems are:

Configuration 1
Liquid ring vacuum pump, heat exchangers, separators for the barrier fluid, centrifugal pumps for extraction, piping and instruments

Configuration 2

Vacuum system for maintaining pressure of around 10 mmHg abs in a chemical reactor system.

Configuration 2
Liquid ring vacuum pumps, roots type vacuum pumps, separators for recirculation, heat exchangers, centrifugal pumps, piping and instruments

Vacuum system for maintaining pressure abs in a chemical process without vapor. Recompression and suction at given pressure above atmospheric pressure.
